Learn the Rules and Then Make Your Own

Posted on: January 9, 2015

Years ago I took an abstract art class in college, and there were certain concepts the professor told us that I did not “get” at the time but then understood much later.

One of the students in the class was a very naturally talented artist who insisted on doing things her way rather than following the professor’s instructions.

Some years after I took the class, I realized the importance of doing what the instructor asks of you.

We have to follow certain guidelines and learn discipline in order to perfect our own talents.

Once you have learned from the teacher, then you can do what you want.
