Inertia Versus Meditation

When you are upset, stressed-out, or overwhelmed by the challenges of life it is natural to want to run away or hide somewhere for a while. This is your mind and body’s way of seeking time out and the space to find balance and clarity. We instinctually need to gain homeostasis.

Most of us have not been taught the benefits of handling stress and discomfort by giving ourselves positive ways to retreat. Because of this, many people feel immobilized and go into a state of inertia. While this allows you to get some rest, it is not the best approach.

Consider healthy, positive, productive ways to give yourself time out. Go for a walk, take a shower, read a book, or sit and breathe and meditate.
